It is our goal to provide the best possible experience for our creative community. When it comes to our contests, one way that this comes through is in the quality of the judges we bring in to evaluate the submissions. By combining the opinions of recognized industry and academic experts with popular voting we hope to provide our entrants with a variety of feedback that will help them improve their craft. Here are the biographies of the judges that have worked with us on some of our contests:

Anita G. Day
Dr. Anita G. Day teaches advertising at the Loyola University New Orleans. Her professional experience encompasses several fields of mass communication including advertising, promotions, marketing, public relations, broadcasting, political communication and non-profit communications. She has worked in the mass communication field for over 20 years since receiving her FCC license at the age of 16. She began as a disc jockey before moving to television producing and writing. With this background, she is able to apply her real-world experience to the classroom.
Dr. Day has taught many different courses in the mass communication field. She has taught public relations principles, writing and case studies. She has also taught visual communication and advertising principles. As the current advertising sequence head at Loyola University New Orleans, she teaches the following courses for advertising majors: advertising principles, advertising copywriting and advertising campaigns.

Dr. Douglas Lawrence
Dr. Douglas Lawrence is a full-time faculty member at Marywood University where he is chair of the Communication Arts Department. He also serves as the Program Director of the Digital Media Department. As an experienced filmmaker, he has just finished his latest documentary, "Sacred Rituals." His teaching experience is both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary to include but not limited to the following areas: digital media, communication theory, scriptwriting, media and broadcast production, and public presentation.
Dr. Lawrence is the author of five books published by the Putnam Publishing Company, he has produced a film for the Department of Education and he continues to present communication workshops and seminars. In addition, his musical compositions have received Grammy nominations.

Steve McNamara
Steve is an award-winning Copywriter and Creative Director who has worked at JWT, BBDO, and Rapp Collins. Steve had done print, TV, video and interactive web work for such clients as Capital One, Rolex, Disney, Citibank, IBM, and Microsoft. He has experience with successful campaigns in most major product categories, from packaged goods to personal computers, in both domestic and international markets.
Steve is the creative director and publisher of a popular website and CD about advertising called AdCracker. He has published articles on brand and direct response topics in MarketingProfs, DM News, and BuildingBrands.
Steve attended UC Berkeley and graduated with a BA in Rhetoric. He also attended the UCLA Graduate certificate program in screenwriting. He has won several awards in advertising from the London International Advertising Awards, the Asian Advertising Awards, and more.

Richard Schrand
Richard Schrand is the Computer Graphic Department Chair at Nossi College of Art. He has a long and varied career, having worked in the television industry for almost 30 years before switching his focus to graphic design. He has won numerous awards including three Emmys for his producing and writing.
Richard has written ten books on graphic and web design, computer software such as Photoshop, and 3D design and animation. His tenth book, Vue 6 Infinite Revealed, was released in January 2007. He has been a contributor to ten other books on design and illustration. In addition he writes for numerous magazines on subjects ranging from graphic design and idea generation to software reviews. He also helped develop the Nossi College of Art Bachelor of Graphic Arts Degree Program.
Richard is a professional trainer who works with companies throughout the world. He is also the founder and co-owner of Broadsword Productions, a marketing and advertising firm that specializes in 3D design & animation, and video production.

J.S. Gilbert
J.S. produces audio and video for commercials, branding, the internet, interactive, telephony, and the gaming industry. He also casts, directs talent, writes and is a prolific voice actor, with over 300 gaming credits and thousands of commercials, corporate industrials and other credits to his name. He specializes in working with small to medium sized businesses and agencies and assists in developing work flow scenarios that take best advantage of assets and opportunities. He is a member of the IGDA, AAF, Advisory Board to the California Art Institute - SF, BAARC (Bay Area Advertising Relief Committee) Board Member, Greater San Francisco Ad Club, SF BIG and has been Bay Area ADDY Awards Chair. He is also a member of Create Magazine's Advisory board and a frequent contributor to the publication, and has also written for many other publications, covering diverse topics involving advertising, gaming, audio and video development and other related subjects. Among other awards, he is a recipient of the Greater San Francisco Ad Club's Presidents Award, Multimedia Producer Magazine's Top 100 Producers list for 1997.

Dr. Michael J. Havice
Dr. Michael J. Havice is a professor at Marquette University where he has been teaching since 1984. He teaches courses in Production Techniques, Corporate Media, Interactive Technologies, and Advanced Scriptwriting. He is chairman of the Broadcast & Electronic Communication Department. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Television and Radio from Michigan State University, and his doctor of Education degree from Drake University. Michael has been published in scholarly journal articles, books, and other print media.

Mookesh Patel
Professor Mookesh Patel is a practicing information/experience designer and a principal partner at InfoDesign Management Inc., in Scottsdale, Arizona. His clients include Phoenix Art Museum, Metropolitan Boston Transit Authority through Malcolm Gear Designers, and the Government of India, for whom he created a major traveling exhibition. He is the treasurer for AIGA XCD, member of ICOGRADA, and IIID. In addition to serving as the Chair of the Department of Visual Communication Design at ASU, he is a visiting faculty member at Rhode Island School of Design. Professor Patel's research focuses on the visual communication and information design, semiotics, visual interpretation, visualization, film and animation design, exhibition/experience design, and typography. His widely published works includes ASU from the Air (2000) coauthored with David Scheatzle and Emily Kimling. He holds a diploma in Visual Communication from the National Institute of Design, and a BS from Ahmedabad Science College, which is part of Gujarat University in India, and received his MFA in graphic design from Rhode Island School of Design.
