Hey everyone, just a heads up that we double checked all date stamps on our server. We’re not sure why, but it looks like our site is showing the wrong dates. Everyone who has a date of December 21, 2007 actually had their videos stamped by our servers BEFORE 10PM PST on December 20, 2007, so they all qualify. Again, we will have winners announced by January 15th. Good luck to everyone!

For the Popular Choice award, you mentioned the 3 criteria. What will happen in the event one person doesn’t sweep all the catagories? Will there be multiple winners, or something else?

It’s looking like there is no issue of a tie in any of the categories. Only one person achieved the original requirement of 500 votes, so we are working out details on how to make awards for those that did not attain that goal. We also have our team of critics working on the critics’ choice award winners. Less than a week before we make an announcement, so stay tuned!

So does that mean the person who received the 500 votes is an automatic winner of the popular choice portion of the contest?

It’s never an automatic – again, winners are chosen not only on the number of total votes, but also the number of up votes and the difference between up and down votes.

So we will find out on the 15th? Or are you aiming earlier at this point?

i was just wondering how u guys are going to match the videos with the release forms because nowhere on those forms did it say to give the name of your video or the name you used for your username and also i faxed the documents its not like i uploaded them so what should i do should i send the release forms again with the name of my video? i dont want that to be the reason for why i dont win.

“so we are working out details on how to make awards for those that did not attain that goal.”- Admin
What does that mean? There will be lesser prizes for those who didn’t win either of the Pop. Choice or Critic’s Choice categories? Like prizes for the runner ups?

I knew ‘i of the beholder’ was going to be a winner after the administrator posted “We’re not sure why, but it looks like our site is showing the wrong dates. yeah, I knew they’d win. It might not be “iDom” material but they were clearly capable of creating the most email accounts to register and vote with. so…props…I guess.

The release forms are fine. We aren’t having lesser prizes for runner-ups. We’re modifying the prize amount for popular choice winners who did not total 500 votes.

uhhh, anyone else surprised that iPhone is the only contest that won both categories for a very mediocre and cramped (too much going on screen) video? I sense a bit of dirty buisness. If he won the pop choice hey, I mean he sure knows how to make them fake emails… But I mean pockets and innovative thinking also deserved a shot. (liked em both a lot) and there were quite a few other vids worth noting. ( I would like to say mine as well) but i guess I just dont have a good eye for talent because i of the beholder clearly is pure gold..

Yea the results were pretty disappointing… For them to keep everyone on the edge and then give a video that had so much controversy behind it both prizes, is pretty questionable and suspect. like you said there were videos that deserved a chance, I mean was the ‘i of the beholder’ that much better then everyone else’s?

I agree man, and to me…no. It doesn’t catch my attention (other than its controversy), not funny(not that it has to be)....and its not simple like apple. Apple is all about simplicity, but I digress…it is very suspect

The popular choice winners were determined by number of votes. The critics choice winners were decided by a panel of experts who will soon be listed on the site. We’ll also be featuring our video winners on the site. The fact that the video won both awards in the iPhone category is simply a coincidence. We did have some great videos in that category such as “Innovative Thinking” and the the decision was very close. Thanks to everyone for participating. Keep your eyes open for future contest announcements!

I understand that it was by votes…but he must have about 300 something friends for the votes to changed that much in the time that I saw one movie. (checked before I left and when I came home it was 300 ish votes higher.

We did look into the registrations to ensure that all votes were made by individual registrants, as we would with anyone who received significantly more votes than anyone else. We encourage everyone to keep trying and watch for more contests – you never know who might see your work! We’ll also be adding some new functionality on the site shortly, so watch for that as well.
